Living Pain Free

It was a simple, yet elusive, goal that led Dr. Ryan Hicks to a different approach to chiropractic treatments. Just like a broken bone must be properly set before it can heal, so too muscles must be reset before a spinal adjustment. Traditional chiropractic adjustments often leave the newly-aligned spine at odds with the muscles surrounding it. Comfortable with their old position, the muscles strain to return the spine to its previous curvature. It’s like falling back into an old, bad habit.

By combining specialized muscle work with chiropractic adjustments, we reset these muscles to help restore the body’s own natural balance thus creating the optimal environment for the body to heal. At Ryken Chiropractic & Wellness Center, the patient can warm up their achy, fatigued muscles on one of the aqua massage tables. Once the muscles are loosened a gentle yet effective spinal and/or extremity adjustment can be made. Following the adjustment patients can work with our licensed massage therapist who will utilize a variety of soft tissue healing techniques to release the patterns in the muscles that prevent chronic conditions from healing fully. The following treatments can also be utilized to help patients heal quicker: muscle stimulation, ultrasound, physiotherapy, cervical traction and inter-segmental traction tables.

Many patients are referred to our office with chronic conditions that have not responded to other treatments. Some have tried medication and physical therapy, and were left feeling like they just "have to live with the problem."

We offer patients a different approach so they may not have to live with their pain anymore.

Should Dr. Ryan determine X-rays, MRI, or any other tests are necessary to better serve you in your chiropractic care you will be informed.

Additional tests such as these are on a case by case basis and will be determined by the doctor. X-rays are often necessary to visualize the location of any spinal problems, reveal any underlying pathologies, and make your chiropractic care more precise.

The Not-for-Profit Foundation for Chiropractic Progress has more information about x-rays and chiropractic care for patients.
